👉 Interesting links:

🌊 1. What is Batu Bolong dive site like?

Batu Bolong (meaning “Hollow Rock”) is Komodo’s most famous dive site — a pinnacle rising from deep water with surreal coral gardens and massive fish action. Currents split around the rock, creating sheltered areas ideal for reef life to flourish.

  • 🐠 Schools of fusiliers, trevallies, barracudas

  • 🦈 Occasional white-tips & turtles

  • ⚠️ Only dive on the sheltered side — currents on the opposite face can be extreme

📅 Best conditions: June–October (north season), when visibility can reach 30+ metres.

🐠 2. Castle Rock — Pelagic Highway

Castle Rock sits just below the surface and is a magnet for pelagic action. Advanced divers love this site for its strong currents, swirling fish balls, and patrolling sharks.

  • 💨 Expect to descend into blue water and hook in at depth

  • 🦈 Reef sharks, trevallies, giant trevally, napoleon wrasse

  • 📸 Fantastic for wide-angle photography

Tip: Best dived on a falling tide, when currents bring nutrients and fish activity peaks.

🌪 3. Crystal Rock — The Cleaner’s Kingdom

Located near Castle Rock, Crystal Rock gets its name from the crystal-clear water that often surrounds it. The site features two pinnacles, colourful coral slopes, and thriving cleaning stations for pelagics.

  • 🧼 sharks cruise in the blue

  • 🌈 Colourful anthias clouds + pristine soft corals

  • 🌀 Strong currents, best for experienced divers

🧘 4. Siaba Besar — Komodo’s “Bowl”

Not every site in Komodo is about adrenaline. Siaba Besar can offer calm, protected diving inside a horseshoe bay. It’s perfect for check dives or macro exploration.

  • 🐢 Resident turtles often seen resting on coral heads

  • 🐙 Cuttlefish, nudibranchs, and occasional reef sharks

  • 🌿 Excellent buoyancy training site with minimal current

📸 A favourite for photographers wanting slow, relaxed dives.

🛸 5. Manta Point — Gliding with Giants

Manta Point is a shallow site where mantas come to feed and be cleaned. Depending on the season, you may see dozens of reef mantas circling cleaning stations in effortless ballet.

  • 🪄 Best visited for maximum manta encounters

  • 🐟 Large schools of fusiliers, surgeonfish, and eagle rays

  • 🌀 Moderate currents but very manageable for most advanced divers

🌊 A must-do dive on every Komodo itinerary.
