Komodo Liveaboard Diving - The Ultimate Guide

🌊 Komodo Liveaboard Diving: The Ultimate Guide

At the heart of Indonesia’s wild maritime frontier lies Komodo National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site where rugged islands, thrilling currents, and manta-filled blue water collide. For divers seeking adventure, biodiversity, and breathtaking scenery, Komodo delivers it all.

Our Komodo liveaboard itineraries are built to immerse you fully in the region, balancing adrenaline-pumping drift dives, serene coral gardens, and scenic trekking excursions. While no two voyages are ever identical — routes adapt to weather, tides, and guest experience — this 8-day itinerary offers a perfect taste of Northern, Central, and Southern Komodo.

1. 🚤 Starting & Ending in Labuan Bajo (LBJ)

All Komodo liveaboard trips begin and end in Labuan Bajo, the gateway to the national park. This vibrant coastal town is easily accessed via direct flights from:

  • ✈️ Bali (DPS)

  • ✈️ Jakarta (CGK)

  • ✈️ Kuala Lumpur (KUL)

  • ✈️ Singapore (SIN)

On arrival, guests make their way to the harbour, where our crew welcomes you aboard Kira Kira or Akomo Isseki. Starting directly from Labuan Bajo allows us to maximize your dive time, exploring the north, central, and south without unnecessary backtracking.

📝 Tip: Arrive the day before departure for a relaxed start to your adventure.

2. 🧭 Example 8-Day Komodo Liveaboard Itinerary

Each voyage adapts to local conditions to give you the best dives possible. Here’s an example of a classic north–south–north loop:

📍 Days 1–3: Central Komodo – Dampier Strait Equivalent

Sebayur, Siaba Besar, Tatawa Besar — easy warm-up dives among coral gardens and turtles.
Manta Point (Karang Makassar) — glide with graceful manta rays at the cleaning stations.
Batu Bolong — Komodo’s legendary pinnacle dive, alive with swirling fish and turtles.

Night dives are often offered in sheltered bays with spectacular macro life.

📍 Days 4–6: Northern Komodo – Castle & Crystal Rock

Castle Rock & Crystal Rock — adrenaline drift dives with trevally, reef sharks, and swirling bait balls.
The Cauldron (Shotgun) — a natural underwater rollercoaster that catapults divers through the channel with mantas overhead.
Gili Lawa — optional treks for panoramic sunset views over Komodo’s rugged landscape.

📍 Days 7–8: Southern Komodo – Rinca & Padar

Head south into cooler waters where plankton-rich upwellings bring different species.
Rinca Island trek — optional land excursion to see the famous Komodo dragons.
Padar viewpoint — iconic sunrise trek with unforgettable panoramic views.
Return north with relaxed dives and a final drift through vibrant coral reefs.

On the last morning, enjoy breakfast as we cruise back to Labuan Bajo, where we’ll help you organize your onward journey or extended Komodo stay.
